What is Spyce Social?
Spyce is a social dating app that matches you on the things that shape a relationship: faith and denomination, language, heritage, values and genotype compatibility. It also connects online dating with real-world events, so you can meet people in person, or through club memberships.
Who is Spyce for?
Anyone who wants their culture, faith and values to be part of how they date. Spyce was born from the experience of Nigerian and African women dating in the diaspora, and it is open to everyone, wherever you live and wherever you are from.
How is Spyce different from other dating apps?
Most apps stop at age, distance and photos. Spyce lets you match on denomination, the languages you speak, heritage and genotype, and then helps you meet in real life through events and safety tools designed for real dates.
What is genotype matching, and why does it matter?
Your genotype (for example AA, AS or SS) affects the chance of having a child with sickle cell disease. When two partners both carry the sickle cell trait (AS), each child has a 1 in 4 chance of sickle cell disease. Knowing compatibility early helps you make informed choices together. Sickle cell trait is common in people of African, Caribbean, Middle Eastern, South Asian and Mediterranean heritage.
Who can see my genotype?
Only you decide. You can choose to share and use it for compatibility matching and share it with a match when you are ready. You can change or remove it at any time in your settings.
I don't know my genotype. Can I still use Spyce?
Yes. Genotype is optional. A simple blood test from your GP, a clinic or a lab can tell you, and you can add it to your profile whenever you like.
Do I have to share my religion, heritage or language?
No. Every cultural detail on Spyce is optional. Share what feels right, and use filters to find people who share your background or to explore beyond it.
What are Spyce Socials events?
Spyce Socials are curated in-person events, from brunches to mixers to group outings, where you can meet matches and new people in a relaxed, social setting. Invites and RSVPs happen in the app.
Can I host my own events and earn money?
Yes. Spyce Premium members can create ticketed events in the app, from mixers and brunches to faith-based socials and cultural nights. Set your price, sell tickets to the Spyce community and get paid out for every ticket sold, minus a 10% platform fee. All hosts are verified, and every event follows our community and safety guidelines.
How does Spyce keep me safe on dates?
You can share your live location with a trusted contact, check in during your date and reach emergency contacts in one tap. You can report or block anyone at any time, and our team reviews every report. We always recommend meeting in a public place for first dates.
How are profiles verified?
Every member can verify their profile with a quick selfie check, which confirms that the person in the photos is really you. Verified profiles carry a badge, so you know who you are talking to before you meet.
How do you protect my data?
We treat faith, heritage and genotype as sensitive personal data. We only use them with your explicit consent, never sell your data, and you can download or delete your information at any time. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.
How much does Spyce cost?
Spyce is free to join. Spyce Plus and Spyce Premium unlock unlimited messaging, advanced filters, event access and privacy features. Premium members can also host their own ticketed events and earn from ticket sales. See pricing for details.
Where is Spyce available?
Spyce is available on iOS and Android globally. Spyce Socials events currently run in Glasgow, with more coming soon.
How do I delete my account?
Go to profile, then scroll all the way down to Delete account. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and data. Account emails may be retained for marketing purpose.
